This tutorial is a simple "getting started" for Daz|Studio. (After this point DAZ|Studio will be referred to as DS)
It assumes that you have installed DS and may have run it before but not actually set anything up.
(If you do not have DAZ|Studio or you want more content you can find it at the link below)
If you didn't set them up when you first started DS then you will need to sort out your content directories and tell DS where to find everything. So go to Edit>Preferences from the main menu, then switch to the Directories tab and you should have something matching the pic below.

(note that your content directory may be different from mine)
If not then click Add and find that folder on your machine. Once thats done click Apply and when you get back to your main DS window on the left hand side you should see:-

Clicking the plus sign next to Figures should show you most of the stuff you have installed for DS.
If you scan through the items in there clicking on each category you should see icons appear in the window below.
![]()
If you double click any of these icons DS will whir for a while and display a progress bar.

Once the progress hits 100% the main screen should refresh and your content should be visible on the screen.

At this point you are faced with a choice of directions. You can either pose the charachter then add clothing or vice versa. Either works but the one I have listed below is the one I have found easiest to use. At this point I add the clothing and the props to the charachter.
Look through your content and find some kind of clothing for your charachter. Most content is designed for a particular charachter so you need to check it will work with the one you are using.
Double click the icon of the clothing you wish to add and once again you will see the progress bar and then DS will refresh to reflect the new addition.

If the clothing is conforming clothing it may appear to not be fitting the charachter properly. To rectify this right click on the clothing in question and choose "fit to".

From the drop down list on the following screen choose your charachter and click OK.

Even if your clothing appears to be fitting it is best to do this step anyway.
Just keep adding content till you are happy and then you can move on to posing your charachter.
This is easy enough using default poses in the POSES folder.

If you do not have any default poses or none of them do the job my next tutorial will be a slightly more in depth look at the rotate and translate tools.
