This tutorial will show you how to make a a simple abstract picture in Bryce 5.5
It also assumes you have a good knowledge of Bryce 5.5

First open up a new document, 800x600.

Delete the ground plane

Create a sphere
Click the A next to it and set the attributes to this:-

Sphere One Settings

Now click M and set the material of the sphere to:-
Metals>Bright>Mirror
Back in the material editor set the Diffuse and Volume colours to black.
Now create a Torus
Set the attributes of this torus to:-

Click the torus' M and set the material once again to Metals>Bright>Mirror
This time set the Diffuse and Volume colours to white.

Select the sphere to make it active
Press Ctrl+C then Ctrl+V
Set attributes to:-

Now double click the camera trackball on the right and bring up the Camera & 2D projection screen.
Set the attributes of the camera to:-

Now go into the sky & fog presets and choose "simple black background".

Finally create a Radial light
Set the attributes of this light to:-

Now click the E to edit and put the settings to:-

Make sure you set render quality to premium and render

You can alter the look and feel of this image totally with just a few alterations and additions.
By adding two more Tori and altering the lighting it went from what you have now to the image below.
